Today we’re featuring Elle Mitchell & Arabela Espinoza, Founders of Weekend Creative. Weekend Creative specializes in creative brand photography with a focus on unique and playful concepts. I had the opportunity to ask Elle & Arabela 5 questions and here is what they had to say.
Q+A with MH Modern Muses Elle Mitchell & Arabela Espinoza
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
A: We are Arabela and Elle, the women behind Weekend Creative. We are a photographer and art director team based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We specialize in creative brand photography with a focus on unique and playful concepts. In addition to photography, we have well-rounded backgrounds in advertising, graphic design, art direction, and media which helps us to approach our projects with a unique perspective.
Q: Who are 3 people that inspire you and why?
A: We're really inspired by our friend Claire Xue, she is an experience and set designer who is amazing with shape and color. We also love Jimmy Marble and Jesse Chamberlain Marble, their photography is so dreamy and creative. We're also really inspired by our friend Diane Villadsen, we love her work, and we've really benefited from her friendship.
Q: What advice would you have for a female entrepreneur ready to take the leap into entrepreneurship?
A: Make as many connections as you can and build up your community. Just start and don't wait for the perfect time because it will never come. It's ok to start small or start on the side, but make a list of steps and take it one step at a time. Set long-term and short-term goals with specific plans on how you will achieve them so you can see and celebrate your progress. Focus on yourself and don't be distracted by the success you see in other people. Also, be legal and get a separate bank account. ;)
Q: What is your personal mantra?
A: We live by the Marc Jacob's quote - "Let's do what we love, and do a lot of it." We believe in creating good work, being nice, and having fun.
Q: What do you love most about Marie Hunter Beauty?
A: We love Marie Hunter Beauty's mission statement - "Boldly empowering women with beauty, confidence, and class." It's refreshing to see a beauty brand that supports women and isn't just out to make money.
As a beauty brand founder, I love Elle and Arabela’s creative and playful approach to design and photography. Imagery is everything when growing your brand and attracting your ideal customer and these ladies have it down to a science. Together Elle and Arabela are making powerful statements through their work and having fun while doing it and for that they are MH Modern Muses.
